Humayun Ahmed
Brief Biography
Humayun Ahmed is among the most well-known writers of our day and is one of the best writers in Bengali literature.
He has been a significant influence on the younger generation for more than two decades.
People still view his works like Kothao Keu Nei, Aaj Robibar, and Srabon Megher Din as masterpieces in Bengali literature.
Notable Works
Ahmed authored over 200 works of fiction and nonfiction as a novelist, several of which were bestsellers in Bangladesh. He made 8 films and wrote over 40 songs.
Writing Style & Impact
His literary style is sometimes referred to as "magic realism". The popular TV show Narcos describes this idea as "What happens when a highly detailed, realistic scene is invaded by something too bizarre to believe."
Magical or surreal things were frequently shown by Humayun as a natural component of an otherwise ordinary or commonplace scene.
His works have an odd spell-like feel, with unique plots and characterizations that attracted people from all age groups.
Everything is relative in his stories, there is almost never anything totally good or evil, absolutely true or false.
Legacy

Achievements
For his contributions to Bengali literature, he received the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981 and the Ekushey Padak in 1994.
For the films Daruchini Dip, Aguner Poroshmoni, and Ghetuputra Komola, he received six Bangladesh National Film Awards in multiple categories.
Death
On July 19, 2012, Ahmed passed away in New York City's Bellevue Hospital.
Times of India, credited Ahmed as “the person who single-handedly shifted the capital of Bengali literature from Kolkata to Dhaka"
