Swati Mohan is an Indian-American aerospace engineer.

She became the Guidance and Controls Operations Lead on the NASA Mars 2020 mission.

Mohan and her team landed the rover on Mars. They ensured the spacecraft carrying the rover was properly oriented during its travel to Mars and when landing on the planet's surface.

Dr. Mohan became interested in space upon seeing Star Trek at age 9.

She was fascinated by the stories of characters exploring their universe.

"I want to do that. I want to find new and beautiful places in the universe.”

Mohan works at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, and is the Guidance & Controls Operations (GN&C) Lead for the Mars 2020 mission.

The GN&C team monitored the rover's challenging entry into Mars and relayed maneuvers for its safe landing.

Dr. Mohan voiced the landing of the rover in February 2021.

Dr. Mohan began working on the Mars 2020 project in 2013. She had the opportunity to support full life cycle of the mission from idea to operation in space.

She has also worked on previous NASA missions such as the Cassini mission to Saturn!
